Dr. Dimitris Sarris is an Associate professor at the University of Aegean, an expert on food biotechnology and industrial fermentations, specifically on treatment and valorization of agro-industrial waste streams towards the production of bio-based, high-added value compounds within the framework of bioeconomy, circular economy, circular agriculture and sustainability. He is the coordinator of three Erasmus+ projects introducing and promoting the concepts of Circular agriculture and Green Growth.

Dr Eleni Naziri

Dr. Eleni Naziri is an Assistant Professor in Food Biochemistry, in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition at the University of The Aegean. Her expertise includes the biotechnological production of functional lipids and value-added ingredients, their extraction with safe chemical means and the examination of their antioxidant and/or pro-oxidant activities. Her current research interests focuses on the valorization of agro-industrial by-products through the application of circular economy principles for the production of functional food products, as well as the incorporation of these by-products in the process optimization of novel fermented foods.

Dr. Konstantinos Gkatzionis

Dr. Konstantinos (Kostas) Gkatzionis is the Head of Department and a Professor (full) focusing on consumer science, sensory analysis and food technology. His teaching and research take a multidisciplinary approach in applied research addressing industrial problems and challenges as well as fundamental investigations.Dr Kostas Gkatzionis has been supervising an international and truly multicultural research group of doctorate candidate students from numerous countries including Indonesia, Italy, Lebanon, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Uganda, UK, Cyprus and of course Greece, many of which have now graduated and hold positions in academia and industries across the world.

Dr Efstathios Kaloudis

Sarris

Dr. Efstathios Kaloudis is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition at the University of the Aegean in Greece. His main research interest is the development of computational models for the agri-food industry. In particular, computational fluid dynamics and data analysis applied to post-harvest grain quality, pest management methods (including fumigation and controlled atmosphere techniques), and sensory science (sentiment analysis of food-related social media posts, eye tracking).

Dr Marina Kandroudi

Marina

Dr. Marina Kandroudi is a secondary school educator. She holds a PhD in Pedagogy, a master degree in Cultural Studies and New Technologies and her bachelor is about Philosophy and Social Studies. Her research interests are art based learning, digital game based learning, flipped learning. Her publications lie in the field of e-learning, game based learning, flipped learning.

Danai Ioanna Koukoumaki is a food scientist and PhD candidate in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition of Aegean University. Her main research interest is the development of new materials through bioprocesses as well as consumer studies.

Eirini Tolia

Eirini Tolia is a graduate of the University of the Aegean, with a degree in Food Science and Nutrition. She is presently pursuing a Master's degree in Global Innovation and Sustainability in the food and nutrition industry. Her primary focus is on biotechnology, specifically examining its practical uses and advocating for inventive solutions to enhance the sustainability of food systems and promote the circular economy.

Dr Marijana Kroteva

Dr. Marijana Kroteva scientific field is in the psycholinguistics, ESL and second language acquisition. Her subfields of research are the critical thinking in curriculum, problem based teaching and didactics. She is a PhD graduate of the University of Toronto, Canada, with two Masters Degrees from University of Eugene, Oregon, USA and University of Vienna, Austria. Her secondary field of expertise is in the project square management and evaluation of projects.

Evangelia Vanezi

Evangelia Vanezi (M.Sc.) is currently a Researcher at the Software Engineering and Internet Technologies (SEIT) Laboratory at the Computer Science Department of the University of Cyprus. As a member of the lab, she is involved in numerous EU-funded projects. She holds a graduate (B.Sc.) degree in Computer Science and a postgraduate (M.Sc.) degree in Internet Computing from the same department. She is currently pursuing a PhD degree. Her research interests and expertise include Web-based Software Engineering and Privacy in Software Systems (incl. GDPR). Her skills include programming in several languages and development of web and mobile applications.

Katerina Petsa

Katerina Petsa (B.Sc.) is currently a Special Scientist Software Developer at Software Engineering and Internet Technologies (SEIT) Lab of the Computer Science Department of University of Cyprus. She obtained her B.Sc. degree in Computer Science from the University of Cyprus. She has an internship in IBM Czech Republic and has two years’ experience working for NCR Middle East. She is a hardworking and ambitious individual with technical skills as well as interpersonal skills. Some of her technical skills include C#, SQL, JavaScript.

Christos Mettouris

Christos Mettouris

Christos Mettouris (Ph.D) is a graduate of the polytechnic school of Computer Engineering & Informatics Department at the University of Patras, Greece. He holds a Masters degree of the same department and a PhD degree from the University of Cyprus. He has been a member of the e-Learning sector of the Research Academic Computer Technology Institute (RACTI) in Greece. He is currently a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the University of Cyprus and a member of the Software Engineering and Internet Technologies (SEIT) Lab of the Computer Science Department. He is involved in a number of EU and local funded projects (SCIChallenge-H2020, Prosperity4All-FP7, Asterics-FP7, idSpace-FP7, CVN-AAL, B3Regions, InnoFun and more) and was also involved in the organization of a number of conferences in Cyprus (DSD-SEAA 2016, ICEIRD 2014, ICSOB 2014, BIS 2014, WiMo etc). His research interests include Recommender Systems, Ubiquitous Computing, Model-Driven Development and Context-Aware Computing.

Efi Siapiti

Efi Siapiti is currently a Researcher at the Software Engineering and Internet Technologies (SEIT) Laboratory and Security Research in Cyprus (SREC) at the Computer Science department of the University of Cyprus. She holds a graduate (B.Sc.) degree in Computer Science and she is currently pursuing a PhD degree. Prior to her employment at SEIT labs, she has worked in a big accounting firm for a year, doing security assessments to big companies in Cyprus. Her research interests and expertise include system security, information security, website development. Her skills include programming in several languages, and she holds the ISO27001 certificate in information security.
