Generally, food safety is defined as “the biological, chemical, or physical status of a food that will permit its consumption without incurring excessive risk of injury, morbidity, or mortality.” Moreover, it involves the handling, preparation, and storage of food under conditions that prevent all the above hazards. Nowadays, while this definition remains fundamental, the continuous changes in the climate and the danger of an upcoming food crisis, necessitates a broader and more related perspective. At the next paragraphs, (a) the ways to secure food safety at all stages of supply chain ( 2.2.1.) and (b) how food crisis may affect this safety ( 2.2.2.), will be presented. Afterwards ( 2.3.), special focus will be given only to the effect of climate change on food safety.
