About Course

The aim of this module is to become aware of the importance of food safety at all stages of supply chain (i.e. production, processing, distribution, retail, consumption). Specifically, food safety issues will be discussed in terms of current and upcoming food crisis derive by different situations (e.g. natural disasters, economic downturns, etc). Specific examples of the near history will be presented in sort. Special attention will be given to the climate change. The social and economic impact of food safety outbreaks, also very crucial points affecting directly and indirectly, the safety of consumers, will be also presented at this module. Finally, the role of consumers in ensuring food safety throughout the entire supply chain as well as the future opportunities that may arise in view of an imminent food safety outbreaks will be discussed.
