This module is dedicated to explore environmental initiatives in soil and food production, with a focus on assessing soil quality for the cultivation of healthy food. The main aim is to explore the obstacles related to maintain soil health, a significant matter to consumers who prioritize food for its well-being benefits.
In the spirit of the One Health Approach, is well known that soil health is fundamental to achieving nutritious food. The idea is that the well-being of the soil directly impacts the quality of the food it produces.
Through this exploration, we will not only analyse traditional methods of assessing soil quality but also introduce soil sampling techniques. These sampling methods, such as the Spade Test, the earthworm sampling or the use of weeds as bioindicators, allow us to efficiently assess soil health and contribute to the wider goal of ensuring the production of nutritious and healthy food.
